  1. MigraineBoy says:

    #35 is a beautiful qoute…

  2. Lisa Martin-LOL says:

    No words. Only sheer gratitude.

  3. Sigh says:

Propaganda. A few humane photos don't make up for thousands of lives lost, on both sides. Of course, I am proud of our troops for defending our country and our freedoms, but don't try to make it something it's not. War is an – inevitable – terrible thing.

    • papsmeer ribbon says:

You suck. Ow woe is me. War sucks. blah blah blah!
I hate people like you. Those soldiers are murdering people, BUT I love them and support them.
I bet you also say, "I don't condon islmaic terrorism, but they do have a point".
      You suck! Go away!
Grow up and realize that war is brutal, but necessary. American Revolution, Civil War, WWII, were all vital to our existence as a country.
What you are doing is propaganda.
      Lame!

      • Deeveeus says:

I think what he is saying is that the soldiers themselves deserve love, respect and gratitude a million times over.

BUT not every war should be supported thoughtlessly, and you quoting wars that were not only long ago, but some of the more clear cut and understandable wars in our history does not make current invasions of Iraq totally okay on a political level.

He's stating his unhappiness with those sending these great men and women to death for better oil prices….ask their families, I'm betting they're not totally in love with the reasons for current wars

      • Sigh says:

Do you know how to read? I'm just asking because obviously you didn't read what I had written. I have nothing against our soldiers and I support them 100%. I also understand that war and conflict is inevitable. You see the word "propaganda" and get up in arms, calling me a war protester (which I am, by no means).

I simply stated that we shouldn't make out of war, what it isn't. It's not glorious and it's not beautiful. It is a means to get what you and I deserve, our freedom. And, in order to get that freedom, we need brave people who step up and do us a service, and their bravery precedes them. So, next time, before making a complete fool of yourself, do me a favor and take a second to read, and understand, that which is written. What our soldiers do not deserve, or need, is a buffoon like you defending their already honorable name.

    • thetetch2 says:

if it is inevitable then prepare yourself for it ,for when it comes I wish to stand with my brothers not behind them and defend peace and the lives of the ones I love where will you stand on the flank screaming propaganda if your not part of the cure your part of the disease

    • Maverick says:

      TROLL

    • Liberalfreeamerica says:

There are both sides. You have a right to your opinion, however dispicable and misguided it is. But please, don't insult our intelligence and desicrate the memory of those who gave everything, so that people like you can say "I support the troops but…" I suggest, you either thank a soldier or pick up a gun and stand post. Until that day arrives, STFU. You may now return to being pathetic.

  4. Patty says:

War is a terrible thing but it also gives freedom from tryanny and governments that mistreat people and women and children! We all know the horrors of war but very seldom is the good of what our soilders do told and it should be! They deserve it! All the media ever reports on is the bad that happens! Why shouldn't we get to hear the good that is being done too?

    • thetetch2 says:

it the bad that the media reports because it sells humanitarian efforts that result in good rarely make front page

    • Sigh says:

There is no "good" being done. the reason you see pictures like these is because of something terrible. That's like posting pictures of a serial killer helping an old lady walk across the street. Do you not see the absurdness, the poison, in that?

      • northerner says:

        No.

        • dario says:

yeah its clearly propaganda, if they where that such of a good ppl why did they invade on the beggining?. soldiers are still human yeah , no metter how hard the army try to make them meat for the canons, but those images are bullshit. is just a grain of sand of good for all the bad the war does.

          • Person says:

We invaded to protect the people from the tyrants in charge of their government. Unless their country is governed primarily by children, it looks like the soldiers shown here are doing their job just fine by protecting them.

          • Anonymous says:

you have got to be dumber than a bag of hammers, go live in those people's world where they have to fear for their lives every day and worry if their government is going to steal their family in the middle of the night and rape and kill their daughters and wives in front of them and turn their children into soldiers. And if you don't think any of that is tru go read a book you stupid piece of shit.

  5. I love this post. Thanks.

  6. @100window says:

Really great post. A lot of the anti-war protests do seem to forget that the soldiers are not the bad guys, they are human and they generally have truley good intentions in their hearts. Hopefully they arrive home safe soon.

    • northerner says:

      Amen to that…

    • unfairrobot says:

I don't remember seeing much, if any, anti-soldier sentiment after the invasion of Iraq, only anti-war sentiment. I have to say – and not as a response to what you've written here but just as a memory I recall – that the amount of vitriol hurled by pro-war people at anti-war people after the invasion on the basis that they "did not support the troops" made me so angry. It just seemed like a straw man argument, accusing those who disagreed with them of being unpatriotic. Surely energy could have been better spent asking why lives were being put on the line when the president seemed so unsure about the actual reason it was being done.

    • Rosemary Antiwar says:

Good intentions? When you volunteer for the military, the primary "intention" is to obey orders that include killing other humans. Everything else is secondary.

  7. Peter says:

Support the troops not the war!

  8. b-dog says:

Thank you so much guys! This post was amazing. God bless our soldiers. And my brother!

  9. fasterthanu says:

    Bring the troops home!

  10. roberto robot says:

make amends for previous unnecessary wars

  11. Kev says:

I think we went over there for the wrong reasons, but these men and women that are helping a group of kids are doing more than we know. The are proving to the people we want to help them.
Never underestimate a simple act of kindness.
    Thanks troops.

  12. Vihni says:

I have no opinion on the matter of war … but when people go through shit like this and then the government just 'Stop-losses' them, it's just pathetic.

  13. northerner says:

Good post Chive. Awesome pics. This ol' vet "whips a crisp one at ya…"

  14. MJW says:

War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.

  15. shanna says:

*wipes a tear* wow that was sadly beautiful the first picture really started the tears…..these men and woman are hero's…..ok ok and men in uniform <- YUM!!!!

    • brother of USAF says:

      #'s 1, 34, 35, and 36. powerful stuff!

for the people who just want to "cut and run", i highly suggest watching "Charlie Wilson's War". if we just leave now, we are only breeding the next generation of terrorists.

  16. dinimuetter says:

Seriously seeing this makes me want to give up on vietnam(my country) sure the US tried to invade us but why do they have to make it look like the enemies are blood thirsty demon with only the intention to kill? sure that may be a good way to bring moral up during wartime but seriously why is it that no one ever even tried to tell me that war is bad? that war tears families apart ? that its the rock bottom of human kind?
Its a disgrace am a highschool student very dissapointed

  17. moggy says:

Can somebody somewhere highlight the fact that it was the US Marines (or some other division of the US army) that dealt with sending aid ratios to the flood victims in Pakistan.
Stop being so skittish about the good things that the US army is doing – if you do not tell the world, nobody would know and only the hate mongers would keep fanning the flames.

  18. Speedypixie says:

These are beautiful pictures of humans at their best. I support our troops, not the war. God Bless.

  19. Kanova says:

It's nice to see good people when going through hard times. Thanks for the post.

  20. Rosemary Antiwar says:

Why in the HELL do you have to be a hired killer in order to amuse children and "do good"? I don't thank soldiers for the naked aggression they perform for the ruling class against other human beings. They're either knowingly engaging in murder or they're stupid to do their dark deeds for no valid reason except to enrich their masters.

    • viperr68 ARMY STRONG says:

Well Rosy Palm, I am not a hired killer nor do I murder people. But if someone is shooting at me, they better duck cause it's coming back at them. I have no master, but I do have nieces and a nephew, and it is my hope that I might now serve so my nephew might not have to later. So Rosy Palm, I don't really need your support to do what I think is right for this country that I love and that has been good to me and my family. (wow did you really say "naked aggression" and use the term "ruling class"?) And you called me stupid lol?

    • JAB says:

      Rosy,
Thank you for those shallow comments, but you must realize you cannot generalize all soldiers as hired killers. We fight for a cause and a belief. The very belief that allows you to post those comments are denied to those various people in the world that we are assigned to protect, train and assist.

      • JAB says:

        -cont-
While you sit at your table on your laptop eating "BonBons" and typing this bullshit, there are thousands of kids without the basic necessities to survive, women without husbands or men to share their experiences with because they have been killed off or forced to fight as dictated!
Until you step over here and see the mass chaos in government and lack of organization in society that we so take for granted, then STFU!!!!
        Sincerely, CPT "Rockets" B-
        1 Infantry Division, Iraq

  21. justagirl says:

Rosemary, because of men and women dyeing for u, and our country u have that right to voice YOUR opinion. Men and women of the military I thank you. Wish I could kiss and hug u all!

  22. Danny says:

Great post… you always think of soldiers just killing people randomly… we never stop to think they're just following orders or that they might not agree with all of it…

  23. Dude says:

That first picture breaks my heart every time I see it. God Bless our men and women in uniform and give them the strength and stamina to deal with the hell the rest of us never could.

  24. dave khan says:
