"Riverside police are searching for a big-rig trucker suspected of fatally shooting an officer Sunday night after a chase following a hit-and-run accident.
The trucker failed to stop despite the patrol car's flashing lights and siren, she said. The trucker eventually pulled over in front of nearby Fairmont Park. He got out of the vehicle and fled on foot with Bonaminio running after him, she said.
Officer Ryan Bonaminio, a four-year veteran of the department, was shot by the unidentified suspect following the traffic stop, said Sgt. J.B. Brennan of the Riverside Police Department."
Ryan was alson a U.S. Army Veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
