I was looking after my niece and nephews one Nov 11 some years ago and took them to the Cenotaph for the ceremonies. Being fairly young the best I could do was to tell them to sit still and be quiet but after they were over I turned em loose and told them to find ANY person wearing a uniform and just walk up and say THANK YOU. Im sure they were too young to REALLY understand but those Veterans hugged the HELL outta them
Happy Birthday Marines!
God bless each and every one of you to all who serve our country.
it breaks my heart watching that child reach out for her father what a shame that is I believe in the right to freedom and the necessity to protect that freedom and wish I were capable of joining and fighting with these great men and women may god look over and protect each and every one of you and may he also crush your fucking enemies like the bugs they are
I am a dyed-in-the-wool, peace-marching liberal and every day I thank our brave men and women in uniform. Being in the military is a job I could never do and I am grateful that there are those who do it with bravery, skill, and honor.
Today I honor, especially, my father, a 3-tour VietNam vet in special forces; my ex-husband, a marine who helped evacuate Phnom Pen; and my dear friend who is even now diffusing bombs in Afghanistan. God Bless You, and God Bless all our men and women in service to their country.
I'm not even from America and this has moved me. The fact that these countless men sacrifice their own lives for ours…..
why would we remove #30? and why is it disrespectful? as somebody IN the military RIGHT NOW i personally feel as if people don't understand what we sacrifice for the country. they only see the glamor in war. the smiling the "oh he can still smile in a time of war, they are so strong" type of attitudes. why aren't there any pictures of the tears we shed for our fallen comrades and the wounded during battle? why aren't there any pictures of our pain?
we make sacrifices. we die for this country. yet our pain is never documented. our struggles are never seen. to understand how hard we worked you have to show the other side. not just the outcome.
Well Said.
