"Ross S. Carter was a member of the 82nd Airborne, 504 PIR. Prior to being widely known as the author of "Those Devils in Baggy Pants," he was awarded the Silver Star, Combat Infantry Badge, five Gold Stars for battle, and a Purple Heart for his actions in Europe and Africa. He was one of three survivors from his original forty-four man platoon when the war ended. Although Carter died before his book could be published, it has sold over a million copies. I've been told that, at one time, his book was required reading for all army paratroopers. Regardless, any post I've ever seen written by a vet says this book is one of the best descriptions of WWII available in print."

The book doesn't get much publicity today, but I thought The Brigade readers would find this interesting. Thanks for the suggestion Derek.
