Very nice post, Rick. Keep up the awesome work!
Great slideshow!
Only one picture of Paratroopers though…
I know, I was thinking about that when I launched the post. I decided to do a future specific post on Airborne's landings before d-day. (take some time to get a good high-res collection)
*VICTORY*
Wow, what a concept…
(/mild sarcasm)
#39 and #15 are definitely worth keeping.
Its not just americans who died at D-Day!
#20 I tried to mix in a few
Yeah, next time can you find canadian and brithish pics?
British*
#20 Looks like some Canadian troops.
again, future post specific to Airborne
It should be an American law that every schoolchild should see the American DDay cemetery in France and some of the other cemeteries from pivotal Wars America has been in like WW1 and the Civil War in their schoolbooks, to really understand what war is all about and the sacrifices ordinary Americans have made so we can live in such great comfort and luxury today. I would assume British, Canadian, and French would agree with me when it comes to their country, history, and sacrifices.
It is actually obliged in British schools.
Great post! Thank God for such brave young men and women. We owe so much to them.
There are times when you have to tend to your sheep, and fight off the wolves. There are times when you have to do the right thing, to save your sheep (world) from the wolves (dictators).
It seems that #8 is the odd one out. The map is an analysis of the German invasion of France (Fall Gelb) instead of Overlord.
It's indeed a pity that so few photo's of British and Canadian troups are shown.
these men are more man than I will ever be.
we shall remember the ones who died that day and war
We shall remember the ones who sacrificed for the people back home, that day.
I was just there last week on a grad trip to Europe, went to Juno and then Omaha, was breathtaking.
