Deputy Kyle Pagerly of the Berks County Sheriff’s Department was murdered in the line of duty when a joint detail consisting of troopers from Reading, a state police fugitive task force, U.S. marshals and Berks County sheriff’s deputies attempted to arrest a subject for burglary, firearms and assault charges. Deputy Pagerly ordered the subject to drop the gun before the two exchanged gunfire. Pagerly was shot in the head and died. Deputy Pagerly is survived by his beautiful wife Alecia, and his K9 partner Kynx. He found out a few weeks ago that his wife is expecting their first child. On June 20, 2011, Forestry Ranger Brett Fulton of the Florida Department of Forestry, along with Forestry Ranger Joshua Burch died in the line of duty and two others are have been injured. The fire is called the Blue Ribbon Fire, and was the Florida panhandle near the Georgia border. Rangers Burch and Fulton were reported to be cutting firelines using tractors when one of their tractors became stuck. The other responded to help the trapped Ranger and both were overtaken by the fire. Read the full story here

Assistant Chief Robin Erlic West served the Startex Fire Department for 35 years. He was the loving husband of Mrs. Melba (Ramsey) West having celebrated 35 beautiful years of marriage. In addition to his wife, Melba he is survived by one son, Joshua West and his wife Leigh of Startex; one daughter, Jessi W. Hill and her husband Johnathan of Lyman; two grandsons, Noah Hill and Tucker Hill and one granddaughter, Kendall West; one brother, Jesse E. West, III of Startex; three sisters, Pamela W. Wheeler of Moore, Dianne Rogers and her husband Ronnie of Moore and Joy Galloway and her husband Johnny of Walnut Grove, along with many nieces and nephews. Read the full story here

Pham had worked with Dallas Fire Rescue, as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) since 2006 and was engaged to his childhood sweetheart, a woman he first met back in 7th grade. Trooper Bowen was responding to call for assistance from a Virginia State Police special agent. He was traveling westbound on Route 3 and his patrol car collided with a vehicle that was traveling eastbound. The impact forced the patrol car to run off the road and strike a traffic pole. The patrol car was split in half by the force of the impact and the front end of the vehicle continued into a nearby parking lot where it struck three parked cars. Trooper Bowen died at the scene. Sergeant Curley was shot and killed when he and another officer responded to a domestic disturbance in Kaibito, Arizona. The dispute involved a fight between two brothers. Another officer who had responded to the scene was also shot and wounded. Sergeant Curley was transported to a hospital in Page, Arizona, where he succumbed to his wounds. Read the full story here

A pickup truck made a left turn in front of the patrol car that Deputy Van Meter was a passenger in, causing a collision. Deputy Van Meter sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene. His partner, Deputy Joshua Mark Waldrop, 26, was critically injured and was flown to a hospital in critical condition. Read the full story here

Officer George was responded to a call for assistance from another Officer from the Ball Police Department. He was traveling south on US Hwy 165 when his patrol car collided with an abandoned bicycle that was located in the roadway. After colliding with the bicycle, Officer George lost control of his patrol car, left the roadway and collided with several trees. After colliding with the trees, the patrol car became engulfed in flames. Officer George died at the scene. Read the full story here

Sheriff Stewart succumbed to injuries sustained 10 days earlier when his patrol vehicle was struck by another vehicle. Sheriff Stewart had served in law enforcement for 40 years. Before being elected sheriff he served with the Griffin Police Department for 28 years. Spalding County is located in the west-central part of Georgia and encompasses 201 square miles and is home to more than 58,000 people. Read the full story here

Deputy Mecklenberg was killed in an automobile accident in Pasco County while involved in a vehicle pursuit. His cruiser caught fire upon impact, but other officers in the pursuit were able to extinguish the flames and Deputy Mecklenberg later died of his injuries. Deputy John Mecklenburg was a U.S. Army veteran and had served with the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office for two years. He is survived by his wife Penny, and two children: 5-year-old Andrew and 18-month-old Jessica. Read the full story here

Patrolman II Timothy Warren of the Memphis Police Department was murdered in the line of duty. Patrolman Warren was shot and killed after responding to a domestic dispute and shooting at a DoubleTree Hotel. Patrolman Warren had served with the Memphis Police Department for eight years. He was assigned to the Entertainment District. Patrolman Warren is survived by his wife Betsy, and their two children. Their son James is 8 years old, and thier daughter Jule is 4 years old.
