USS Charlotte Hull Number SSN-766 is a Los Angeles class fast attack submarine. At the North Pole, we set the World Record by breaking through 61 inches of ice. The temperature went from a balmy -30 to -50 while we were there. They had us man a M-16 on the ice, should any polar bears appear. Various crew members in the photos, we had to dig out the weapons shipping hatch to try and get it open then water leaked in and caused a fire in an electrical panel directly below it. All in all a good time. Some of the guys have warm body on them in marker, there is a ceremony called Blue Nose that you go through above the arctic circle, it involves ice and as much cold shit as they can find. The people that have been there before get to indoctrinate all the new people. They are the Cold Bloods.
…and we did get a beer up there, so some of the guys are enjoying one in the pictures.

ummm ok, first of all this is not the USS Charlotte (SSN-766). at least in alot of the outside photos. what you all see in the outside photos of the submarine is a Virginia class sub. you can tell the way the sail connects to the bow with that little swoop just aft of the wepons shipping hatch. the charlotte is a 688i Los Angeles-class sub which does not have that little swoop. so it was a good attempt to fool but not all those pics are in fact the Charlotte. and to whom said that it looks like shit, well subs arnt ment to be seen were built for stealth. and we spend tax dollers to experiment and ensure we are still capible to operate under the ice. and the cause for celibration and the beer while underway, well lets see you go underwater for a minimum of 6 months while on deployment with little contact to the world and see you not blow off some steam when you get the chance. its called halfway night when ur 3 months into your 6 month deployment. . . . . . . . . . . Pride Runs Deep.
The Seawolf class was the first class to have the streamlining on the sail, but they later started adding it to the 688i subs as they came in for a refit. Been doing it for a while now.
are you high? the Los Angeles-class sub doesnt have streaming on them. . . . . not a single one. they have the later models called Virginia class which is almost like a 688i design but is bigger and more improved, is not a 688i considering its called a 774 class sub. and as for the seawolf class, yes it was the first one to do it. but it too is totally different. and the hull numbers are 21-23. anyways the point is that alot of these photos are not what this person said they were chive. im sorry but u have been tricked prob by a sonar tech nub considering thats were a majority of the photos were takin.

The only thing anyone can tell from this picture is that there are guys inside a sub at either 0930 or 2130hrs, there's a red phone and a yellow emergency light and the letters BA are lit up in the reflection on the monitor. You can see more of a control room anywhere on the internet. Come down off that high horse. Some of you guys get so easily upset at the word "treason" DHS has you by the short and curlies.

I remember that day. I was the 4th person out the hatch. Then when i got down below from the first watch out for polar bears the stale beer was a nice surprise and the warm pizza helped a little to warm up. didn't matter the beer was stale, i was at the actual north pole, which was pretty sweet in itself.

I actually know 3 of the people in a few of these pics, this trip was in 2006. The pictures shown are actually 2 different submarines, one the Charlotte a Los Angeles, and the other is Seaawolf Class. I see people refering to this as a "stunt" it's not, its a legit scientific mission. And the people on watch dont just cap off polar bears with an M-16 at will, they are a watch, if one gets near they fire a warning shot or sound an alarm to have people get below decks. None of these pictures are classified in any sense, more detailed pictures can be found online. And all you America haters can go fuck yourself
I remember COB asked if i could take out a polar bear with an m-16 since i'm an eskimo from Alaska and i said yea if you know where to hit it. So he said ok your going to be the first one on polar bear watch. haha. I remember the night vision goggles didn't work that well either.
An M-16 would just piss a polar bear off. A .45 would be better, but you'd have to wait until the bugger was really close, and then if you missed, it would eat you. Better yet would be an old M-14 in 7.62×51…but even that is not really enough gun.
