“Hey Chive. I recently (about 4 months ago) sent in some pictures of my platoon in Iraq (Scouts 2/325). I want to first thank you for posting them. It was awesome getting some face time on your site, we all loved it! This message is a little more near and dear to my heart as well as all the men in my unit. During our deployment, we lost a very special soldier. David Emanuel Hickman was killed by a roadside IED on Nov. 14, 2011. He was struck with an EFP, Explosively formed penetrator, one month before we came back to the states and he gave his life for his country and is the last soldier killed in the Iraq war. I attached a couple pictures, i know they’re not the best, but I hope they will do. My only wish is that we can pay tribute to him. He was a good friend of mine, as well as a good friend to most of our unit. He served dutifully and gave the ultimate sacrifice for his country. B. Co 2/325 AIR. Airborne. All the Way. Let’s Go! (our battalion motto)” Thank you Jay for sending this in. Only the best to the Hickman family and thank you to the last fallen in Iraq, David Emanuel Hickman.
