“Enclosed are a few pictures of our recent deployment to eastern Afghanistan. We
are a Dismounted Reconnaissance platoon that is part of the 1st
Infantry Division. During our year in Afghanistan we killed Taliban
fighters, brought stability to our Area of Operations, spread western
customs to the locals (porn mags, tobacco…etc), walked hundereds of
miles through unforgiving terrain, and earned our Unit a Valorous Unit
Citation (kinda a big deal). Unfortunately I do not have any pictures
of actual combat (we were a little too busy to take pictures) but I
hope these will suffice.”
