“Last Friday, an Air Force buddy of mine took me and a mutual friend to family day at McGuire Air Force Base. For security reasons, I won’t release his name, but his friends call him Ssgt. “Doodad.” He’s a boom operator, which means he does aerial refueling. A quick summary in his words:
Also, for those of you that are just a little confused about what Aerial Refueling is, well, the best way I can explain it is that I plug into aircraft and give them gas in midair while flying at anywhere from 200-300 knots or so.”
What this means to me is that he has a ton of pictures of the world’s greatest fighter jets in mid-flight from 50 feet away.
There is also a full walkthrough of the KC10, which is the plane he is a boomer on. I’m normally not a big fan of seeing the inside of planes, but this is an amazing vehicle. Nothing on this plane is classified, so all of this can be published.”
