“My name is Lance Corporal Benjamin Brickman, machine gunner and dog handler with 1/8 Alpha Company 1st platoon 1st squad. We were deployed to Helmand Province, Afghanistan from January to July 2012. In these photos you see my squad living and working in the most miserable conditions imaginable while having the time of our lives. We always made the best out of the bad situations we were put in. I tried to capture the essence of the deployment, but its impossible to show what happened in 7 months with 30 pictures. In case you were wondering who the dog is, she is Riley my IED detection dog, she is the sweetest dog on earth and I’m trying to adopt her now.”
