“I’m a combat medic with RED platoon Aco 1-64 AR and this is one of my guys Canger Jean, a Haitian American that was wounded last Sunday when he was thrown out of the truck after it hit a 100 lb IED. After the blast the truck was thrown across the street and into a ditch where the gunners turret flew off. Immediately following the blast before the truck struck the ditch, Jean pulled down his gunner saving him from being cut in half by the flying 5000 lb turret just before being thrown out of the now open door. When I got to the truck, Jean told me that he was ok and asked me to help the other guys in his truck. As the medic, I was walking up and expecting my friends to be gone and having him tell me (I found out later) he was the worst off. Jean, as well as the rest of Red platoon are avid chivers and Jean even has a KCCO patch that he had made to wear while on patrol. Jean is an amazing soldier warrior and a friend.”
