“The Chicago Heights Fire Dept. has been doing the Polar Plunge (where you strip off your clothes and jump into Lake Michigan at near freezing temperatures) for a couple years now. The Polar Plunge was designed to raise money for local families in need of assistance. It is a fun and creative way for people to donate their time and money. My boyfriend is a fire fighter for CHFD, and they are all fellow Chivers. This year, one of their own (Dave Zivo) was diagnosed with lung cancer and was not able to participate. The guys all decided to do it in honor of him, sporting his name and badge number on their chests. These guys get pretty into it, and I thought I’d pass along the photos to you. I’ve made it onto The Chive for a lot less cool reasons. Theses guys are everyday heroes, and they all have a heart of gold. Sincerely, A devout Chivettte”
I added a few Chicago Heights FD photos to the mix. Thank you Allison for sending these photos in and I hope you guys can raise money for a good cause.
