These are pictures, I snapped while my squadron, VAQ-134 “World Famous Garudas”, was on deployment aboard the USS Carl Vinson from 2011 to 2012. It was our first sea duty deployment in over 17 years and it happened to be a pretty cool one. I have the job as a Plane Captain, which you can see in the second picture among the attachments. I’m not quite cool enough to actually fly the plane however, I am responsible for launching and maintaining the integrity of the aircraft. The “Garudas” are an electronic attack warfare based squadron. Meaning we fly in and jam the radars right before the fighters come blow the enemies up. We are and will be the last squadron flying the EA-6B Prowler in Naval history. IMG_0062 is a picture of the rudder on one of our four jets which includes our squadron logo. We are now getting ready to embark on one last deployment with the Prowler’s aboard the USS George H. W. Bush in February of 2014.
