Welcome to the famous semi-annual ‘Big Sandy’ Shoot in Arizona. The rules are – there are no rules. You can fire everything from machine guns to bazookas. During the 3-day event, almost 4 million rounds will be fired culminating in the grand finale on the last night where everybody lines up their weapons and hauls off downrange at targets loaded with explosives and gasoline. The Phalanx CIWS, close-in system, is an anti-ship missile defense gun. It’s nick name is “R2-D2″, for obvious reasons. It’s newest form the Phalanz 1B CIWS has a rate of fire of 4,500 rounds per minute.

M-61 Vulcan Gun (Video)

View Full Gallery   → The Vulcan is a Gatling gun which means the cannon's six barrels fires once during each revolution of the barrel. The rate of fire is around 100 rounds per second. The Vulcan was first used on the F-104 Starfighter and it is the basis of the US Navy Mk 15 Phalanx CIWS and M164 VADS systems. Video Source
